Old Gold Glory - Issue 4

The European Nights issue focuses on the story of those memorable floodlit friendly games in the 1950s when Wolves took on the very best teams from Europe and the rest of the world, as well as the classic encounters in the inaugural UEFA Cup tournament in 1972.

Issue 4 includes exclusive interviews with 1950s veteran Bobby Mason, 70s stars Phil Parkes and Steve Daley and 90s cult hero John De Wolf.

Bobby Mason relives scoring for Wolves against both Real Madrid and Barcelona, Phil Parkes shares stories from Wolves’ famous trip to Juventus, Steve Daley talks about what happened in the 1972 UEFA Cup campaign and John De Wolf reveals exactly what he said to Chris Waddle during their famous altercation in Wolves’ penalty shootout win against Sheffield Wednesday.

There are also columns written by former Wolves players Mel Eves, Martin Patching and Geoff Palmer, with further contributions from former Express & Star duo Steve Gordos and David Harrison, author Clive Corbett and well-respected Midlands journalist David Instone.
